An activity is record in a portfolio. There are many different types of activity such as a WPBA, a Reflection form, or even an ARCP Outcome form.
All activities typically share a core set of functionality that allows these portfolio records to be more than simply a repository of data, such as the ability to comment, to assign to a folder, to upload and attach files and to use the activity as evidence of competence/capability by mapping to a curriculum.
Some activities can be created by the owner of a portfolio without the involvement of others, some are created as a result of a request (e.g WPBA, Supervisor Report), still others are created as a result of Deanery related action (e.g. ARCP Outcome, Form R). These kind of activities are created when the associated process has been completed (ie when a WPBA has been submitted, or when deanery releases an outcome form to a trainee and it is acknowledged).
Some activity types may have limitations on some of the functionality available, for example it is not possible to map Clinical Experience activities (e.g Case Logs) to competencies, as a case log is not considered evidence of competency.
