Trainees can send out requests for work-place based assessments (WPBAs) to assessors from their Portfolio Online accounts. Assessors will receive an email notifying them of the assessment request. Assessors with Portfolio Online accounts will also be able to access the assessments from the Dashboard of their account. If you're not sure who to nominate, read our article Who can complete a WPBA?
1) Click on the '+ New Assessment' on your Specialty Training Portfolio in Portfolio Online.
2) Select the standard you wish to be assessed against and choose Mini-PAT as the assessment type.
For a short description of each WPBA, see our article The WPBAs on Portfolio Online.
3) Click on 'Create Assessment'.
4) Enter the email addresses of the assessors and nominate them.
POtip: You must nominate at least 6 assessors to start the assessment, but it's a good idea check with your Deanery how many responses they require. You can delete assessors at this stage, but not once the assessment has started.
5) Check the box to confirm that you understand that a person nominated cannot be changed or removed for any reason.
5) Click on 'Start Assessment'.
Starting the assessment will initiate the sending of assessor nomination emails asking them to complete the online Mini-PAT form. This sometimes takes a few seconds. The email the assessors receive will state that the deadline to complete the form will be at 23:59; 28 days from the start of the assessment. Trainees can continue to add further nominations right up until the assessment deadline.
Assessors who have used Portfolio Online before will be able to access the assessment from the dashboard of their account provided the email address used for nomination, matches one of their registered email addresses.
If the email address the assessor uses for nomination does not match one of the email addresses on their account, the assessor can complete the assessment using the link in the email they receive.
Please note that reminder emails can be sent to assessors by clicking on the 'Send Reminders' button.
This will only send an email to assessors who have not yet submitted a response form.
